2021 census · what it means at the door
19%Newer homes
About 19% of homes in Markham were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.
During construction many people hold a key: framers, finishers, painters, the sales office. Where homes are new, rekeying the exterior doors to a fresh key is the tidy way to close that chapter, and it takes a single visit.
56%
Single-detached houses make up about 56% of homes in Markham (2021 Census).
In an area with both houses and attached homes, the work varies by the door. A detached house wants all its exterior doors on one key; a suite door wants a cylinder that suits a metal frame and respects building rules. A locksmith carries parts for both.
